Team members


Ashley is the mentor of this team and a recent graduate from Temple University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. She has thoroughly enjoyed working with University Green as they explored environmental initiatives in Philadelphia and around the world, while using social media to increase the awareness of such projects. Upon completion of this program Ashley will be working with the Energy Coordinating Agency on weatherization projects in Philadelphia.


Melissa Mak is a senior at Penn State University, majoring in animal bioscience. She graduated from W. B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences. She is currently working with the Philadelphia youth Network in ISTRG as an intern. In this program, she created her own blog and tweeted on Twitter. She learned about using twitter and blogs to spread the word about global warming and environmental projects happening in Philadelphia. In the future she plans to continue spreading the word about global warming. She hope that one day Philadelphia will be the greenest city in America and that other cities will follow their example and start going green as well


Mohamed Alli is going to be a freshman at Penn State Abington in the fall and currently works with the Information Technology Society Research Group (ITSRG) at Temple University. His mission is to blog about environmental awareness in Philadelphia. He has learned the importance of Philadelphia being the greenest city and the positive impact it will have on our future such as saving energy, lessen our dependency on foreign oil, having a clean environment, and saving money. He promises to to practice green habits like turning off the lights or recycling and also spread the word to others. He is excited that Philadelphia plans to become the greenest city and hopes that other cities will follow its example or try to compete.


Sadira Williams is a graduate of South Philadelphia High School who is currently working as an intern for the Philadelphia Youth Network. Through this experience at Temple, Ms. Williams has worked on increasing the awareness of environmental issues in Philadelphia. She has learned so much such as; blogging, researching, using html code, surfing other websites on the Internet, and gaining communication skills. Sadira will further her education at an University in which she will major in radiology.


Thanh Nguyenis a freshmen at Penn state, he is going to major in Medical Science and currently working with (ITSRG) at Temple University. Before he joined the ITSRG he didn't know how to use twitter, blogger or podcast. After the program, he feels he knows how to do everything that deals with technology. He knows how to post URLs, embed videos, and change the backgrounds on twitter. He hope that this knowledge can be used in the future.


Phuoc Nguyen is going to be freshman at Penn state Abington in fall. He is currently working with the internship group at Temple University Philadelphia youth network & ITSRG. During the program he learned how to create a blog, twitter and how to edit html. His mission is to blog and twitter about recycling, green jobs and environment issues. In the future he will use his knowledge to help the people in Philly with their issues by creating Blog and twitter to help them spread the word just like he did in the program. He is hopeful, that what he did in the program will help change the people in Philly and helps in creating greener jobs.


Ahdrese Willis was born in Philly on January 30, 1995. He just graduated from Morris E.Leeds Middle School and now attends Swenson High School, studying the Plumbing trade. He doesn't plan on going to college right away, but instead plans on going to another trade school to master plumbing. If he does go to college, he plans to go for chemistry or life science. Ahdrese describes himself as "5'10 with brown eyes, slim, energetic, funny, fun to be around,and very social." Ahdrese is very fun to be around; when you're down he finds the funniest things to say that brighten your day. His height comes to use when he is on the his basketball team, and the tallest on the team.He loves meeting new people, even though he has tons of great friends.
